“又看見耶穌的裹頭巾沒有和細麻布放在一處,是另在一處捲着。” 約翰福音 20:7 (John 20:7 Chinese Union Version) “as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.” John 20:7 NIV “and the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;” John 20:7 YLT98
If you only read from 和合本 (Chinese Union version) or NIV, you will miss a significant message from John. Here only Young Literal Translation shows us what the Greek verse says. The cloth covered Jesus’ head was folded up and put on one side , apart from other linens that covered Jesus’ body. According to the Jewish table manner, if the master left the dinner table with the napkin folded up lying on the side of the eating utensils, meaning he will be back. Was this what John wanted to tell us? That Jesus would be back? He finished his last book with this: “he saith — who is testifying these things — ‘Yes, I come quickly!’ Amen! Yes, be coming, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you all. Amen.”
Revelation 22:20-21 YLT98
